10 Amazing Facts & Figures about Performing....
Each female company dancer is given up to 10 pairs of pointe shoes per month, costing more than £100,000 per year!
Each tutu takes over 40 hours to make and they are made by hand! Did you know that pointe shoes lives are prolonged by using 'shellac' a kind of varnish to harden the toes and the backs?

Lots of people think that pointe shoes have a wooden block at the end of them, but pointe shoes are actually made from layers of paper and a material called hessian sandwiched together with glue and shaped by hand!
Every tutu uses 10-12 metres of fabric and there are between 10-12 layers of net in the skirt!       Did you know that a costume for a full-length production can cost as much as £1500!

Dancers sometimes use make-up or pancake, a theatrical make-up similar to foundation, which will stay on for a long time to matt their shoes and to keep them looking clean for the performance! English National Ballet use one and a half miles of ballet shoe ribbon per year!
In one week, a technical crew can use 3.5 kilometres of cable for a performance and can replace about 17 light bulbs!
English National Ballet dancers can use up to 3546 pairs of pointe shoes a year!
