Peter Pan

In a nursery in a house in a city, a little girl called Wendy is getting ready for bed when through her open window comes Peter Pan and his tiny fairy friend, Tinkerbell. Their arrival wakens Wendy’s sheepdog, whose barking sends Peter and Tinkerbell fleeing. In their rush, Peter’s shadow is snapped off....

One week later, Peter and Tinkerbell return to the nursery to look for his lost shadow. Wendy, a sweet-tempered girl, offers to sew on Peter's shadow while Tinkerbell flits around the room in her usual mischievous manner. As she sews, Wendy listens to Peter’s tales of his life with his friends; the Lost Boys back home in Neverland. Peter then surprises Wendy and her brothers, John and Michael by asking them to fly away with him to Neverland. “But we can’t fly!” they cry. Peter sprinkles magic dust on them and soon enough, the children are flying through the window into the night sky with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.

As they fly towards Neverland they discover a lagoon, and a pirate ship ruled by Captain Hook – the fearsome pirate whose hand was bitten off by a crocodile (who also swallowed an alarm clock!) and then replaced it with a metal hook. The crocodile liked the taste of the Captain’s hand and was eager to sink his teeth into the rest of him too!

When the Lost Boys see Wendy flying overhead in her white night-dress they think she is a beautiful bird. Tinkerbell, who had grown jealous of Wendy, flies ahead and orders the boys to shoot an arrow at what they think is a bird. Wendy tumbles injured to the ground. Peter is furious and instructs the boys to build a house around Wendy so that she can recover in comfort.

Soon enough, Wendy is well again and begins to take care of the Lost Boys who quickly grow fond of her. One day, when Peter and Wendy are swimming in the lagoon, they discover that the pirates have captured a Princess, Tiger Lily. Desperate to save her, Peter disguises his voice as Captain Hook’s and tells the pirates to release the Princess. When Captain Hook finds out what had happened he goes angrily to battle with Peter, until he hears the sound of a clock! The crocodile! Terrified, the Captain swims away.

Eventually, Wendy, John and Michael realise that they have got to go home. But on their last night with the Lost Boys the pirates attack them. A big battle breaks out and Wendy and the boys hide. Finally the sound of a drum is heard – meaning that the Lost Boys have won. But it is a trick! Wendy and the boys emerge only to walk straight into the pirates’ trap.

That night, whilst Peter Pan sleeps Tinkerbell sees Captain Hook creep to Peter’s bedside and poison his drink. When Peter awakes and goes to take his drink, Tinkerbell darts in and drinks it down so that Peter doesn’t fall ill. Poor Tinkerbell! Peter Pan told all the children who believe in fairies to clap their hands and magically, Tinkerbell gets better! The London Children's Ballet's performance of The Prince and the Pauper .

When Peter finds out that the Pirates, have kidnapped Wendy and her brothers he heads to the pirate ship to save them. He finds Wendy tied to a mast and the boys lined up to walk the plank. Then suddenly, a ‘tick tock’ is heard! Captain Hook runs to hide from what he thinks is the crocodile but instead it is Peter pretending to be the alarm clock inside the crocodile’s stomach! Amid the chaos, Peter unties Wendy and the boys grab weapons ready to attack the pirates. Peter Pan and Captain Hook battle face-to-face but Peter is too quick for the Captain. Deciding to escape, Captain Hook jumps ship – straight into the jaws of the Crocodile – who finally gets his fill of the tasty pirate Captain!

Having defeated the rest of the pirates, Peter Pan and the Lost Boys take over the ship and sail Wendy, John and Michael all the way home to bed. What an adventure! And who knows, if you believe in Neverland perhaps one day, Peter Pan will take you there too!
